Bio
Grown up in Bern, Lausanne and Brig. Marco Nicolas Heinzen lived in Lucerne, Zurich and Berlin. Today he set up his recording studio in the midst of the Swiss Alps. Heinzen studied Guitar at the Jazzschool Lucerne (University of Applied Arts and Science, HSLU). 2008 and graduated with a Diploma in Music Pedagogy (Equivalent to a M.D.).
Heinzens musical career started with 6 years old, as he received his first violin from his father, being then a student of Paul Locher and Marie-Antoinette Jambers, Brig. Turning 13, Heinzen began taking guitar lessons and was a student of Rolf Schnyder, Eliane Amherd, Patrick Jean (EJMA) Christy Doran, Roberto Bossard, Frank Moebus (Jazzschule Luzern), Chris Buono, Tony Grey (Bassist of John Mclaughlin)(Berklee School of Music, Boston). He also studied the trumpet with Georges Martig and Manuel Mengis (Brig).
2011 Heinzen graduatet at ZHDK (University of Applied Arts and Science, Zurich) with an Master Degree of Arts in Fine Arts.
The style of Heinzen`s Projects, Combos, and Bands is oscillating between Jazz, Funk, Electronic Music, Experimental and Noise. Working since 2003 with Live-Loops his performances are often exploring the nuances of repetition and groove, he is questioning the classical concert situation setup, is using mechanisms and principles of visual arts and conceptual art inspecial, genres and quotations, mixing art performance and concert, playback and installation. Difference and repetition, loops and riffs, media and technology, collage and atmosphere are central in the compositions of Marco Heinzen. Besides playing live with different bands (Fischermanns Orchestra, Captain Buddha, Urban Orbit, Emme Süd, Glückshormone, Blue Lemon etc) he composes for several ensembles and theater productions.
In 2007 Heinzen started exploring the world of electronic music production as well as live djing. Founding with his friends the label “Dorfdisko Records” which did release music as well as organise parties in switzerland until 2015.
